Works from the 34ᵉ Bienal de São Paulo

"Même dans la pénombre, je chante encore. Œuvres de la 34ᵉ Bienal de São Paulo", presented from December 16 to March 5, symbolized the first exhibition of the Bienal to take place in Europe and France. Hosted at Les Forges, Fondation Luma in Arles, this event showcased a diverse selection of works that delved into deep themes of perception, transformation, and the coexistence of different realities. The exhibition, which included a rich variety of media, installations, sound experiences, paintings, videos, photographs, and letters, invited visitors to explore the complexities of contemporary life through a lens of art that challenges conventional boundaries.

The installation iDzia, featuring sophisticated lighting, 4K video projections, directional speakers, and screens, played a pivotal role in amplifying the conceptual essence of the exhibition. These cutting-edge technologies served as tools to create an immersive experience, blurring the lines between the real and the imagined, and inviting audiences to question the nature of the world around them. The lighting, in particular, created an atmosphere that shifted between shadows and clarity, evoking a sense of transformation and metamorphosis. The 4K video projections brought to life dynamic visual narratives, enhancing the thematic complexity of the exhibition. Meanwhile, the use of directional speakers and strategically placed screens ensured that visitors were not merely passive observers but active participants in a multi-sensory dialogue with the art.

The exhibition's title, "Même dans la pénombre, je chante encore" (Even in the Darkness, I Still Sing), speaks to resilience and the human spirit's enduring capacity for expression, even in the most challenging circumstances. This powerful metaphor resonates with the works displayed, which offer a reflection on the importance of maintaining one's voice amid adversity. Each artwork provoked contemplation about the contrasts and connections between light and darkness, silence and sound, presence and absence.

By presenting works that embrace a plurality of voices and mediums, the exhibition encouraged a deep reflection on how art can serve as a mirror to the world’s multiplicity. The installation iDzia, with its combination of lighting, video projections, and sound, played a crucial role in this exploration, offering a cutting-edge approach to experiencing contemporary art. The use of immersive technology, combined with the thought-provoking pieces from the Bienal, allowed the visitors to embark on an evocative journey that explored new perspectives on reality, identity, and cultural expression.

In this context, the exhibition proved to be not only a celebration of the diversity of artistic voices but also a profound meditation on how art can push boundaries and invite people to confront their own perceptions of the world.
