The opening of Gallery 19M Marseille

Dive into the captivating world of Marseille’s art scene at the Galerie du 19M, in continuation of the Chanel Cruise 2024/25 fashion show! This unique initiative marks an enriching meeting between haute couture and local craft. 𝘭𝘢 Galerie 𝘥𝘶 19M, located in Marseille, is invited to the Mucem and becomes the crossroads where the Artisanal Crafts and the artistic scene of Marseille meet and express themselves. This collaboration highlights the local talents, whether they are artists, craftsmen, designers, associations, or creative spaces. It’s a true showcase of the city’s artistic richness, where innovation blends with cultural heritage to offer an unforgettable visual and sensory experience.

From May 3rd to 26th, the gallery at Mucem will host vibrant works, from fascinating ceramics to light installations, as well as original creations by local artists. Each piece on display tells a story – that of craftsmanship, creativity, and the passion of Marseille’s creators. Alongside the exhibition, participatory workshops will be organized, giving visitors the chance to immerse themselves in art in a friendly atmosphere and directly interact with the creators. These workshops will allow everyone to discover the techniques and know-how behind the works, while offering a space for personal expression. This participatory approach will enrich visitors' artistic experience and allow them to engage with the art in an interactive and playful way.

The Mucem, or the Museum of Civilizations of Europe and the Mediterranean, is a national museum located in Marseille. This unique museum is dedicated to the cultural anthropology of European and Mediterranean societies. It offers a vast collection of permanent exhibitions covering various fields such as anthropology, archaeology, history, art history, and contemporary art. Additionally, the Mucem regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, often linked to current artistic, social, or political issues. It strives to reflect the historical and social continuities of this region while highlighting the tensions and challenges that continue to shape this geographic area.

We are now accustomed to intervening at the Mucem for exhibitions, conferences, concerts, or soirées, through light and sound installations. These events give us the opportunity to enhance the venue with sound and lighting setups, creating a unique atmosphere that complements the richness of the exhibitions and artistic projects presented.
