Les Baux Pianos at Les Baux-de-Provence

From July 15 to 17, 2023, Les Baux-de-Provence was filled with the vibrant sounds of the first-ever Les Baux Pianos festival, an exceptional event led by the talented André Manoukian. This unique festival took place on the Esplanade du Château, an extraordinary venue offering breathtaking views of the Provençal landscapes. With this new festival, André Manoukian aimed to provide the audience with an unprecedented musical experience, gathering artists dear to him for a sonic journey through space and time.

After founding the Cosmojazz festival in Chamonix, Manoukian brought his pianos to this historic site, where music met the exceptional. The Esplanade du Château, with its stunning panoramic view, transformed into an open-air theater, where the magic of the venue blended seamlessly with the magic of music. The invited artists, coming from all over, shared intense musical moments, from duos and trios to the mesmerizing performances of musicians from Greece and Bulgaria, bringing with them unique sounds and influences from across Europe.

To enhance these musical moments, the technical team at iDzia handled the installation of sound and lighting. Thanks to their expertise, the festival’s ambiance was elevated by a perfectly designed sound and visual setup, tailored to the venue. The sound system, crafted to integrate harmoniously with the outdoor space, allowed for clear, balanced music that ensured every spectator, no matter where they stood on the Esplanade, had an immersive experience. The sound filled the Provençal air, creating a warm and captivating atmosphere that was perfect for enjoying the richness of the musical performances.

Lighting played a crucial role in setting the scene for each concert. The lighting design beautifully highlighted the castle’s architecture while adding a dreamlike quality to the artists’ performances. Each lighting setup was carefully thought out to enhance the intensity of each piece, creating a visual ambiance that complemented the music, amplifying the emotions felt by the audience.

The Les Baux Pianos festival thus offered a rare meeting between history, heritage, and contemporary music, providing the audience with an unforgettable sensory journey. Thanks to iDzia’s technical expertise and André Manoukian’s artistic vision, this inaugural event will remain etched in memories as an experience that transcended the boundaries of time and space.
